"Meet the Masters: Impressionism Series" is a six session series in which we will fuse Art History along with duplicating a painting from a Master. In this first series, we will explore artist Edgar Degas as we create "Swaying Dancer (Dancer in Green)" in acrylic or oil.
No previous experience is required. Image will be pre-drawn on an 11 x 14 panel for you. (If taking the course online, you can pick up or have canvas mailed.). All materials will be provided for those attending in studio.
We will be using a combination of GOLDEN Heavy Body and OPEN acrylics, SilverBrush Bristlon series and Ampersand Gessobord.
Impressionism typically involved painting outdoors and attempted to record the changing conditions of light and atmosphere as well as their individual sensations before nature. The impressionists used high key palettes and a variety of brushstrokes, which allowed them to be responsive both to the character and texture of the object in nature and to the impact of light on its surface.
